The WPAA is an association of middle schools of approximately the same size located in the Western Piedmont area of North Carolina. The schools are from Hickory, Statesville, Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville, Lincolnton, and the Charlotte area.  Schools play each other during the regular season and conclude with an end of season tournament and an all-star game.  The WPAA offers competition for middle school age students in the following sports:

To provide for good spirited athletic competition between conference schools.  To encourage sportsmanship, team and individual growth.  To emphasize the balance of academics and athletics for all student-athletes.

Benefits, Expectations & Conduct

Participation in properly-focused team sports can greatly enhance the overall educational experience for students. There are tremendous opportunities within the sports experience to learn lasting life lessons including, teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship, poise and leadership. These important character traits can form the foundation of adulthood and future success.

We ask that all participants in WPAA play, whether athlete, coach, parent or fan,  strive to exhibit good judgment at all events and conduct themselves in a way that will reflect positively on their school, family, conference and community.
